FIELD: analysis of structure and composition of chemical compounds. SUBSTANCE: modulation effect is observed with change of durations of excitation pulse in process determining asymmetry parameter of gradient of electric field in polycrystals carrying quadrupole nuclei with spin 3/2 that includes action with two radio frequency pulses with basic frequency equal to frequency of excited transition, recording of modulation of envelope of signals of spin echo and determination of asymmetry of gradient of electric field by characteristic parameters of modulation effect. In this case nutation frequency ωn of nuclear spins equals frequency of nuclear quadrupole resonance in rotary coordinate system ωrcs,. Durations of pulses are changed both individually and simultaneously with specified interval τ between them. EFFECT: simplified process of determination of asymmetry parameter of gradient of electric field in polycrystals which makes it feasible to study compounds with wide spectral lines of nuclear quadrupole resonance and poorly resolved multiple structure of spectra. 3 cl, 5 dwg
