FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy, particularly, electrotechnical materials used for manufacture of interrupting contacts of switching equipment by methods of powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: composite material consists of metal copper, cadmium and cadmium oxide with the following ratio of components, wt.%: cadmium oxide, 1.0-8.0; cadmium, 0.5-1.2; copper, the balance. Added additionally to the composition is cadmium which forms matrix of composite from cadmium bronze that results in significant increase of switching stability of material and its hardness. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 tbl
