FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to production of copper-based composites intended for fabrication of arcing contacts. Copper-based composite comprises titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanopowder as arc-suppressing additive at the following ratio of components, wt %: TiO2 - 1-3; Cu making the rest. Proposed method comprises mixing by ultrasound of, first, titanium dioxide nanopowder with ethyl alcohol and, then, obtained mix is mixed with copper powder. Now, compaction, sintering, second compaction and annealing are performed.
EFFECT: higher homogeneity of composite microstructure, lower toxicity.
