FIELD: mechanical engineering; devices using steel cables and wire ropes. SUBSTANCE: device has two movable plates mounted on base and acting in assembling onto steel cable strands, guides for movable plates and screw mechanism for displacement of movable plates. Detachable insert is arranged between working end faces of movable plates. Detachable insert is secured on base carrying two detachable hold-downs for fastening free ends of steel cable strands before shoes and behind shoes of socket at its assembling. Space is made in center of base below movable plates to accommodate lower shoe of rope socket for provision of displacement of working end faces of movable plates above shoe. Working configuration of end faces of movable plates is made for enclosing outer edge of grooves in rope socket shoes. Working surface of detachable insert is made to be enclosed by inner edge of the same grooves. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 14 dwg
