SUBSTANCE: compositions are thickened with polymeric thickeners containing polyethylene substrate, side carboxylic groups and side groups of formula: -(OCH₂CH₂)_m(OCHXCHY)_n-O-R wherein m is positive integer, n is 0 or is positive integer, X and Y are independently hydrogen, methyl or ethyl group; R is hydrophobic group containing 8 or more carbon atoms, or with one or more surfactants selected from group comprising ethoxylates, alkylbenzene sulfonates containing 10 or more carbon atoms, alkyl sulfates containing 6 or more carbon atoms, alcohol ether sulfates, alpha-sulfonic acid esters and alkyl glucosides. Compositions have wide viscosity value range, do not lose thickening power during storage and are not exposed to oxidative decomposition.
