FIELD: mechanical and electronic engineering. SUBSTANCE: method providing for testing large DC machines at minimal power requirement and for dynamic loading simulating operating conditions close to real ones involves static loading of machine with current at the same time reducing field current and voltage across armature as well as dynamic loading by sequential starting, regenerative braking, reversing at preset cut-off current and rated field current. Test facility has reversing converters incorporated in armature and field circuits, speed governor, field current regulator, adjustable cut-off current unit, speed, static armature current, and rated field current setting elements. Output of static armature current setting element is connected to field current setting input of field regulator and to additional input of speed governor.
