FIELD: electrical engineering; charging of storage batteries with asymmetrical alternating current from three-phase alternating current source and energy saving charging system of storage battery. SUBSTANCE: method provides forming of asymmetrical alternating current by summing up direct and alternating components at which energy take-off from three-phase alternating current source, its storing and transmission to storage battery is carried out in three steps, using linear voltage at one step, linear voltage in other step and phase voltage in third step. Device forms asymmetrical alternating current by means of two charge-discharge capacitors and two rectifiers. Each capacitor stores battery charging energy and it is then charged to amplitude of linear voltage of three-phase alternating current source, and summing up of energy of these charge-discharge capacitors is provided by source energy in third step, at phase voltage of three-phase alternating current source by reconfiguration of charge-discharge circuits provided by rectifiers of charging system. EFFECT: reduced alternating component of formed current, increased relative value of direct component. 2 cl, 10 dwg
