FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: described are new nicotinic acid derivatives of general formula I wherein A is one of groups of formula A-1, A-2, A-3 and A-4 wherein Y is halogen, C1-C7 alkoxy group, C1-C7 alkyl or nitro, and m is 0 or integer of 1 or 2 provided that when m is 2, Y is combination of different groups, R is C1-C7 alkoxy group, C1-C7-alkoxy-C1-C7- alkoxy group, C1-C7 halogenalkoxy group, benzyloxy group, halogen-substituted benzyloxy group, C2-C7 alkenyloxy group, C1-C7 alkylthio group, 1-imidazolyl group, isopropylideneaminooxy group, di-C1-C7 alkylamino group, di--C-C alkylamino group, X is C1-C7 alkyl group; n is 0 or 1:Z is CH group, group of formula CR3R4 is fragment of formula (B) wherein Alk is C1-C7 alkyl group, or COR together with R4 form -C=0-0- to form structure II wherein R is group selected from CN, OH, H and COOAlk, and A, X, Alk and Z are as defined above; each of R1 and R2 is -C1-C7 alkoxy group, or salt thereof. Also described method of preparing said derivatives and herbicidal composition based on compounds of formula V. Compound and salt thereof control annual and perennial weeds which grow on areas occupied by crops such as rice, wheat, cotton and maize in very small amounts.
