FIELD: well drilling, more specifically, compounds for plugging of formations to eliminate complications in wells such as lost circulation or gas showing. SUBSTANCE: gel-forming plugging compound includes gel-forming agent in the form of water glass, water-soluble polymer and metal chlorine in the form of sodium chloride NaCl. Ingredients are in the form of aqueous solutions in the following ratio, vol.%: gel-forming agent in the form of water glass (Na2SiO3), 35-40; water-soluble polymer (starch, carboxymethyl cellulose, etc), 35-40; sodium chloride aqueous solution, 20-30. EFFECT: higher plugging ability of compound due to use of inexpensive available ingredients and simple procedure of its practical application. 1 tbl
