METHOD AND DEVICE FOR FORMATION OF CYLINDRICAL ARTICLES FROM SOLID WOOD Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: woodworking industry. SUBSTANCE: in process of formation, wooden blank seated in mould is subjected to load directed along longitudinal axis of blank. Wooden blank undergoes simultaneous power vibrating action and power static action. Power vibrating action is brought to bear upon wooden blank in process of its moving in mould in the form of mechanical torsional vibrations which are acting around longitudinal axis of wooden blank. Device for realization of aforesaid method has mould which is made in the form of hollow pipe having its inlet part configurated as reversed truncated cone. Pipe is completed with punch which is installed coaxially with mould and can move in direction of longitudinal axis of mould. Module mounted on end of punch is provided with clamps to secure end portion of wooden blank in it. Cam is also provided having wavy slot which is oriented in parallel to longitudinal axis of mould. Normally attached to side surface of module is pin having its free end seated in cam slot. Application of aforesaid method and device makes process of treating wooden blank more economical together with higher quality of compaction and formation of article.
