FIELD: electrical engineering, hydrogen accumulators for source of electric energy. SUBSTANCE: invention specifically deals with manufacture of accumulating elements based on intermetallic compounds. In correspondence with process hydrogen- accumulating element including case is manufactured in the following way: case is filled with intermetallic compound with density equal to apparent density with addition of intermetallic compound after each compaction. Compaction is carried out to density γstr = γexp = γapp, where γstr - is structural density of intermetallic compound, γexp - is operational density of intermetallic compound, γing is density of intermetallic compound in ingot, γapp - is apparent density of intermetallic compound, K is compaction coefficient of intermetallic compound. Compaction coefficient is chosen to be equal to 1 . Counterpressure to case is then created and activation process is conducted. EFFECT: increased hydrogen-accumulating capacity of element, diminished volumetric characteristics and mass of case under specified hydrogen- accumulating capacity of element. 6 dwg
