FIELD: mechanical engineering; applicable in heat treatment of vital parts of track structure, particularly, switch and stock rails. SUBSTANCE: rail is heated by two-sided method. One-sided hardening provides for plastoelastic deformation of parts before heat treatment and fails to ensure the required value of rail deflection. Plant has guides carrying car with rests for rails. Car is located between poles. Hardening units consist of carriage, support, transformer, inductor and sprayer which are installed on car. Hardening units are located in opposite manner, each on its pole. Inductors heat simultaneously rail head and base. Inductor for heating of rail head is made to comply with shape of rolling surface. EFFECT: elimination of abnormal deflection of switches, wear of switch and stock rails and failure of ready products occurring in cold straightening on mechanical press after heat treatment.
