FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal treatment of welded joints, for example, long-length rails and jointless strings. Installation for thermal treatment of welded joints of rails includes thermal process control unit based on industrial computer with recorded heating program, induction heating module, a sensor for monitoring heating temperature in the form of an infrared pyrometer installed in a heating zone, and a quenching device in the form of a sprayer connected to a device for feeding a quenching medium with a pressure sensor, and drives for moving an inductor and a quenching device. In the sprayer there is a sensor for monitoring the current temperature of the welded joint of the rail during quenching, which is connected to said control unit, and the hardening medium supply device is made in the form of an electronic gate valve with the possibility of control by means of the said control unit by signals of the rail welded joint current temperature monitoring sensor during quenching. Strippers are installed on sprayer to prevent hardening of rail neck and foot.

EFFECT: increased level of physical and mechanical properties and increased operational resistance of rail, exclusion of probability of under-incandescence or re-melted structure of welded joint metal, provision of straightness of rail in area of weld joint, as well as possibility of heat treatment of rails from different grades of rail steels.
