FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; ignition and combustion of fuel mixture. SUBSTANCE: proposed method is effected y delivering two pulses of high voltage to spark plug electrodes. First pulse is formed with energy and duration providing ionization by collision within the radius of central electrode, and second pulse is supplied at moment when ionization by collision provided by first pulse reaches the level of outer edge of central electrode. EFFECT: improved starting properties, reduced fuel consumption and increased service life of internal combustion engine. 3 dwg
