POLARIZATION CONVERTER Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: microwave equipment. SUBSTANCE: device has round waveguide with short circuit and excitation slots, which are shaped as longitudinal, rectangular, spaced from short circuit by λ_E/2. Slots are located in perpendicular planes which run through axis of round waveguide and longitudinal axes of slots. In addition device has two pieces of rectangular waveguides which provide input arms of Y-shaped E-joint and are connected to side walls of waveguide. Output arm of E-joint provides additional rectangular waveguide, which length is equal to 13 and which width and height are equal to width and height of input arms of joint. Slots are matched to inner section of pieces of rectangular waveguides. Sizes of excitation slots and side walls of waveguides of arms of E-joint, length of round waveguide, input and output arms of E-joint, distance between short circuit to middle of excitation waveguides conform to conditions given in invention specification taking into account wavelengths in waveguides. EFFECT: possibility to convert round polarization wave of round waveguide to linear polarization wave of rectangular waveguide. 6 dwg
