FIELD: microwave electronics. SUBSTANCE: method involves simultaneous generation of two electron beams so that electron velocity in one of them is other than that in other beam; both beams are modulated and then passed unidirectionally through one channel. In modulating beam density single-velocity beams are maintained in order to ensure that modulation frequencies of first and second beams ω1 and ω2, respectively, meet condition , where v1 and v2 are electron velocities in first and second beams, respectively; vph is phase velocity of microwave generated in channel at frequency . This condition being satisfied, phase velocity of spatial-charge beat wave will exceed vph,; two modes of travelling-wave and backward-wave tubes are possible under these conditions. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of microwave tube. 6 dwg
