FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has cutter bar rotating about vertical axis and connected with drive mechanism, and housing 3a with transmission 3 having flywheel clutch 10. Transmission is provided by drive shaft 8 rigidly connected with flywheel clutch through carrier fingers. When carrier fingers are in operating position in parallel with axis of rotation of cutterbar, they connect flywheel clutch 10 with cutterbar for driving it. When drive shaft 8 is inoperative, carrier fingers are lifted together with flywheel clutch to disintegrate cutterbar from flywheel clutch. While being lifted, carrier fingers are engageable with brake mechanism positioned inside housing 3a of transmission 3 above flywheel clutch 10. Such construction allows braking of cutterbar to be effectuated mechanically without employment of outside energy source.
