FIELD: electric measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: technique for measurement of capacitance and equivalent loss conductance including measurement of complex dielectric constant of insulating materials uses phase resonance whose frequency can be measured by modern phase meters more accurately than in case of amplitude resonance. In addition, when phase resonance is used, resonant resistance is expressed through circuit variables by simpler formula than in case of amplitude resonance which makes it possible to derive precision formulas for variables being measured. In case of amplitude resonance, similar formulas cannot be obtained directly and require introduction of limiting conditions which reduces measurement accuracy.
