SYSTEM FOR CARRYING-AWAY AND PURIFICATION OF SURFACE EFFLUENT Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: environmental control in construction activities. SUBSTANCE: this relates to system of carrying-away and purification of effluent of rain, thawing, and sprinkling water from motor roads, slopes, road side ditches, built-up areas, industrial sites, etc. System has water drain collector, receiving chamber, settling chamber which is divided by dike with bottom overflow opening into two sections of coarse and fine purification. Also provided is dividing chamber with water supply passages, water branching passages, and water discharge passages for effluent water being treated, and with spillway trough. Filtration chamber is filled with natural sorbent and together with branching collector is waterproofed. System is provided with regulating reservoir and purification facility in the form of biological pond which is created of shallow-water plateau and deep-water basin. Bottom, walls, and filtering members of all structures in system are made from natural permeable materials with porosity factor not less than 10% and filtration speed from 0.1 to 1.0 m/s. Application of aforesaid system reduces capital expenses and operating cost due to simplified construction of system and additional purification of effluent. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 8 cl, 6 dwg
