FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: method can be used in development of steeply descending ore bodies such as kimberlite bodies. According to method, working of deposit to design depth is carried out by opencast method with bringing burden to external dump and bringing ore to processing plant. Left in one of quarry sites is temporary pillar consisting of ore pillar and burden pillar. After reaching design depth, inclined shaft is drilled in side which is opposite to side with left reserve. Ore is mined under quarry bottom through drilled shaft. Work is carried out to 60-100 m depth by caving with open worked-out space. Caved ore from underground drift is transported through inclined shaft and further over berms to concentration plant. In working of temporary pillar, part of overburden is carried to external dump, and remaining part is moved by gravity to bottom of worked-out space until restoring of initial quarry bottom. Ore is worked in side and carried to processing plant. Ore left under pillar is worked through inclined shaft by same technology. Inclined shaft is lengthened by one more pitch and ore is worked through it from zone under overlying rock matter. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
