FIELD: electrochemical protection of underground pipelines and other metal structures against corrosion. SUBSTANCE: grounding system has string of series-interconnected electrode units which are connected to main-line cable; each unit is placed in reagent- filled casing passing main-line cable and gas-discharge pipe; each electrode unit has two electrically connected anodes one of which is connected to main-line cable; anodes are rigidly coupled with casing; adjacent metal casings of electrode units are interconnected in pairs through locking fixture designed for their parallel arrangement in transit and coaxial mounting in service. Locking fixture is, essentially eye or hinged joint. Rigid coupling between anodes and metal casings is provided by means of partitions mounted on spring-loaded angle pieces attached to metal casing.
