FIELD: mechanical engineering; transport engineering; engine starting aids. SUBSTANCE: proposed preheater is designed for internal combustion engine at low ambient temperatures. Burner unit of starting preheater operating on gaseous fuel is made in form of gas burner. Acoustic volume of heat exchanger gas duct is divided by acoustic damper in form of liquid bypass manifold. Gas burner is made in form of preliminary mixing chamber and is furnished with ignition source. Bypass manifold is made of equal section tubes arranged over perimeter of combustion chamber in place if gas duct turning. Ring channel to, pass combustion products is divided into parts by flat ribs. EFFECT: enhanced reliability and efficiency of preheater, improved performance characteristics. 4 cl, 3 dwg
