FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diagnosis of an organism providing with vitamin B1. Method involves determination of indices of activity of thiamine-depending enzyme transketolase and thiamine diphoshate effect and their ratio. An adequate providing the human body with thiamine is diagnosed at the value of obtained index above 8 arbitrary units (a. u.), evident B1 hypovitaminosis is diagnosed at the value less 6.3 a. u, and decreased providing the human body with vitamin B1 is diagnosed at this value at the range from 6.4 to 7.9 a. u.
