FIELD: separation of mercury from gases, particularly, continuous and simultaneous collection and precipitation of mercury from mercury-containing gases. SUBSTANCE: method includes passing of mercury-containing gas through washing tower to which hydrogen sulfate is injected continuously, or periodically at moment of time coinciding with washing by solution containing complex of mercury (II), for instance, [I4Hg]2- or [(SCN)4Hg]2-, not needing of additional oxidizer. Collection and precipitation of mercury and regeneration of solution containing complex of mercury (II) are carried out simultaneously and in one stage only.
