When increased degree of surface finish is required, fine-grain abrasive paper is put on drum and the latter is fed in transverse direction by feeding screw toward surface to be worked. Planing machine is provided with built-in vacuum cleaner unit made integral with it. Vacuum cleaner unit has centrifugal vacuum cleaner and vessel for collecting fine chip cut from surface during working process.
