FIELD: chemical industry, more particularly preparation of 2,2′,6,6′-tetramethyl-4-oxopiperidine/triacetoneamine used as original stock for preparing antioxidants and stabilizers of polymeric materials. SUBSTANCE: method comprises reacting acetone with ammonia in the presence of cationite catalyst and complexon cocatalyst. The latter includes sulfosalicylic and/or salicylic and/or oxyethylidene diphosphonic acid(s) in amount of 0.001-1 % by weight of acetone introduced into reaction. Use of said complexons makes it possible to increase process selectivity and prolong catalyst service life. EFFECT: higher process selectivity and longer service life of the catalyst. 10 ex
