FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particularly, preparation of raw materials for blast-furnace and ferroalloy production processes; applicable in metal smelting from low-grade iron-manganese raw materials in furnaces of liquid-phase reduction. SUBSTANCE: iron-manganese raw material is smelted in furnace of liquid phase reduction with supply of coal, fluxes and blowing with oxygen-containing gas. Due to liberation in burning of coal of carbon and liberation from liquid bath of gases CO and H2, iron-manganese raw material is melted and partially reduced to form metal and slag. In so doing, Mn:Fe ratio is brought up to 10 and more and phosphorous content is brought to 0.05-0.2% and less. Initial material is used in form of materials with Mn:Fe ratio of less than 10, particularly, equalling 2-8. EFFECT: lower cost of processing of iron-manganese raw materials. 3 cl
