FIELD: metallurgy; production of deferrized low-phosphorus manganese slag for melting the manganese ferroalloys.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes melting of burden containing manganese-bearing material, carbon-containing reductant and dump slags of silico-manganese followed by tapping the melt products. Used as manganese-containing material is low-grade high-phosphorus ferro-manganesian ore; ratio of sum of calcium and magnesium oxides to sum of silicon and aluminum oxides contained in burden is equal to 0.25-0.70.
EFFECT: possibility of making use of off-grade manganese-containing materials in melting ferroalloys.
