FIELD: manufacturing electrochemical cells from material thermally molded by using standard procedures. SUBSTANCE: process for manufacturing electrochemical cell possessing long-term chemical stability with respect to anolyte and catholyte solutions at pH lower than 2 and higher than 12 includes following procedures: (a) heat treatment of polymeric material capable of transition to vitreous state and/or of thermal transition to molten state for molding cell or its components; (b) halogenation of cell surfaces or those of its components which are expected to contact anolyte and catholyte solutions in service to make polymeric material forming these surfaces suffer halide substitution so as to obtain chemically stable halide-modified polymeric material. EFFECT: improved general long-time chemical stability of cell within comprehensive range of pH values of solutions employed. 10 cl, 5 dwg
