FIELD: measurement technology; petroleum industry. SUBSTANCE: gas/liquid flow is exposed to narrow ionizing-radiation beam and at least one broad beam. Direct and dissipated beams passed through medium under check are recorded. Respective information signals are generated in the form of digital readings at fixed time moment. Readings are grouped to form samples of desired capacity. Sequence of readings corresponding to homogeneous liquid is separated from information signal shaped when recording direct beam and specific gravity of liquid is determined by processing readings in sample pertaining to mentioned separated sequence. In the process, sequence of readings corresponding to homogeneous liquid is separated from information signal shaped when recording dissipated beams. Specific gravity of liquid is determined by joint processing of readings in sample shaped when recording direct and dissipated beams and those pertaining to respective sequences and selected for homogeneous liquid. Proportion of free gas is determined by joint processing of readings in sample shaped when recording dissipated beams and in that shaped when recording dissipated beams and pertaining to sequence selected for homogeneous liquid.
