METHOD OF DIAGNOSIS OF SECONDARY CARIES Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, therapeutical stomatology. SUBSTANCE: in postsealing period (for 1-4 weeks) enamel at the boundary with sealing material is stained with 3% solution of methylene blue. Enamel has a blue color if calcium ions are come out from tooth enamel at significant amounts. Staining test is considered to be positive if enamel at the boundary with sealing material changes color at all seal distance or at its separate sites. Degree of demineralization is estimated by three-score scale and depending on intensity of staining (1 score - light degree of demineralization; 2 scores - moderate and 3 scores - severe). The secondary caries is diagnosed if staining test is positive and conservative methods of treatment of pathological process are determined. Method provides the carrying out the secondary caries diagnosis at the early time of postsealing period. EFFECT: improved method of diagnosis. 1 ex
