FIELD: ingot casting for rolling. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of pouring steel into casting mold and then introducing crystallizer into metal until level consisting 0.035-0.12 of ingot height in such a way that crystallizer protrudes over metal surface by 0.2-0.65 of its height. Surface of area of crystallizer consists 0.0045-0.0122 of ingot surface area. Selected parameters allow to provide intensive heat removal and accelerated crystallization of ingot head portion. EFFECT: enhanced structure of ingot head portion, less loss of yield at rolling ingot. 1 tbl
