SUBSTANCE: method involves reading data from data storage medium using sector numbers, and reading data for negative sector numbers, as well as reading data from negative sector numbers which correspond to specific sectors. Multiplexing information which indicates whether each of image, voice or additional dialog data are multiplexed, and information for positions of access points used for data search and arbitrary access, are stored in positions represented by these negative sector numbers and are read to provide synchronous playback of multiplexed data with video and audio information and additional dialog data which are compressed at variable rate and serve for different purposes.
