FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: method relates to motor road construction technology, to compaction of earth bases of motor roads, underlying courses of sand and crushed-stone, placing and compaction of concrete and asphalt-concrete pavements. According to method, loose course of material is subjected to treatment by rotating roll which is swinging relative to loose course of material. Lower generating surface of roll is located at height above underlying course corresponding to thickness of strip being constructed and is positioned along aforesaid strip. After that, roll is swinging across strip being compacted. This is accompanied with adding road-building material being compacted ahead of roll surface. Height of layer of this added material layer is larger than design thickness of strip. Simultaneously roll is advanced forward along strip being built behind wave of road-building material pressed out ahead of end-face of roll. To prevent pressing-out of material from under other end-face of roll, moving behind it at minimal distance is preventive calibrating board. In other combination, roll is located across strip being built, and in this case preventive calibrating board is not needed. It is also possible to use arrangement similar to previous one with additional application of preventive calibrating board. Another arrangement requires that to prevent pressing-out of material from under other end-face of roll, material being compacted is added under front part of roll relative to direction of advanced movement of roll. Strip of added material is formed to not more than on half of roll length. Application of aforesaid method enhances quality and productivity of compaction operation. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 33 cl, 5 dwg
