ARTIFICIAL ELASTIC LENS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2143247 C1

FIELD: ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: artificial elastic lens based on composition with low shrinkage factor (no higher than 1%) and refraction coefficient higher than 1.48, allowing polymerization to progress all over the space of mold to give products without optical imperfections and approaching desired shape as close as possible, contains optical component and carrier of photopolymerization material. The latter is based on composition made from mixture of: oligourethane methacrylate having following structure: , where n = 10-20, M methacrylate ester residue of formula -(CH2)m-O-(CO)-C(CH3)=CH2 with m = 1-10 (base material); glycidyl acrylates of formula wherein M is methacryl radical and n = 1-10 (10-30 wt %); alkyl acrylates of formula CH3(CH2)n-O-C(O)-C(CH3)=CH2 wherein n = 0-8 (0-25 wt %); polyalkylene glycol monoacrylates of general formula H2C=C(CH3)-C(O)-[OCH2CH(CH3)]n-OH with n = 1-10 (5-15 wt %); and photoinitiator (0.5- 1.5 wt %), which can be 2,2-diisopropoxyacetophenone or 2-hydroxy-2- methyl-1-phenylpropane-1-one. When irradiated by DRT-250 lamp for 2- 5 min, composition gives elastic polymer material with transmission coefficient 95% in the region of 380-900 nm wavelengths. Variation of composition constituents within specified limits and also variation of their molecular weights enables manufacturing lens with controlled rigidity of their haptic parts and varying refraction coefficient of polymer material. EFFECT: enabled manufacturing artificial lens with various simplified properties. 1 tbl, 8 ex
