FIELD: shipbuilding, manufacture of hull structural members, superstructures, etc. SUBSTANCE: ship's skin has boundaries of front and rear sides in cross section. At least part of boundary line of section is made in form of fragment and/or combination of fragments of oblique taper section of right circular cone over at least boundary of front and/or rear side and/or at least one of vertices. Angle of at least one of vertices of section may be lesser than 180 deg. Thickness of skin may increase from one edge of section to other. This thickness may increase or decrease from inner part of section towards one of edges. Thickness of skin may change repeatedly and intermittently. Over part of length, boundary line of at least one of sides relative to center line of section may be convex or concave. This line may be stepped over part of length. At least one edge of skin may have bend and/or partial bend at change of concavity, opposite concavity inclusive. Over part of length, boundary line of at least one of sides may have at least one recess or one projection. At least one of vertices of section may have at least one recess or one projection. Thickness of skin may have at least one discontinuity. Repeated and intermittent discontinuities of thickness may also take place. EFFECT: improved service characteristics of skin. 21 cl, 18 dwg
