FIELD: shipbuilding and aviation; manufacture of load-bearing structural members by rolling, stamping, powder metallurgy, drawing, machining or extrusion. SUBSTANCE: ship's frame has boundary line of section in at least one of cross sections. Over at least part of its length, boundary line is made in form of fragment or combination of fragment of oblique taper section of right circular cone. Frame may have varying linear size in section which may repeatedly increase or decrease. This size may change intermittently. Over part of length, boundary line may be convex or concave relative to center of mass of frame. Over part of length, boundary line may be stepped. It may be provided with at least one recess or one projection. Linear size may have at least one discontinuity in section of frame. Discontinuities may be repeated and intermittent. Frame may be provided with at least one inner cavity. Frame may be made integral with skin and at least one projection and/or recess may be made in area of conjugation with skin. EFFECT: improved service characteristics of frame. 16 cl, 16 dwg
