FIELD: light industry, in particular, production of high-impression knitted articles. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing successive knitting of double-layer knitted fabric based on incomplete irregular jacquard weaving; switching off needles on one or both needle units in accordance with pattern repeat along pattern width with following double knitting through pattern repeat height of at least two rows of plain weave prior to each shift stroke of one needle unit for value at least equal to double needle pitches at first to one side, then to opposite side for changing relief of pattern. EFFECT: increased efficiency by obtaining compound high-impression knitted fabric and wider range of articles obtained by method. 3 dwg
