FIELD: medico-biological investigations. SUBSTANCE: carbonate salt solution is added to sampled urine, mixture is evaporated and calcined, residue is washed with water, wash water is centrifuged to give centrifugate, to which are successively added: potassium thiocyanate aqueous solution with concentration 0.6 g/cu.dm, sodium nitrate aqueous solution (20 g/cu. dm), and aqueous solution of iron-ammonium alum (100 g/cu.dm) at volume ratio 1:2.5:4, respectively. Mixture is warmed on water bath to 30 C, optical density value is measured at wavelength 430 nm, and iodine concentration indicative of iodine deficiency is measured. EFFECT: facilitated investigation. 1 tbl
