SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and can be used for rapid diagnosis of iodine deficiency. That is ensured by epithelial scraping from the inside of the cheek. Percentage of movable cells is determined in natural white light and in polarized blue light. If the percentage of mobile epithelial cells, determined with blue polarization light, is more than 10 % or more than the percentage of mobile epithelial cells in natural white light, iodine deficiency or high risk of the disease are assessed.

EFFECT: invention provides higher diagnostic accuracy of iodine deficiency in patients.
