FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: titanium tetrachloride is subjected to vapor phase oxidation with oxygen-containing gas in the presence of aluminium chlorides and silicon followed by microgrinding of the resulting product in steam-jet mill in the presence of 20-30% aqueous ammonia solution. Prior to microgrinding operation, tetraethoxy silane, or titanium tetrabutoxide, or polyalumoxanosiloxane or mixture thereof are added to titanium dioxide in amount of 0.3-6.0 % with respect to pigment weight at weight ratio with ammonia of 1:(0.001-1.6) calculated for 100% substance, and aqueous ammonia solution is used in amount of 0.3-2.0 % with respect to pigment weight.
