FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: method includes high-temperature (500-700 C) pyrolysis of concentrated solution of fluorotitanic acid. Before pyrolysis, aluminum metal is added in quantity 0.15-1.5% of the weight of titanium dioxide in solution. Pyrolysis product is first treated with lime milk to pH 6.5-7.0 and then modified by silica gel at its weight ratio to titanium dioxide in solution 1:(0.01-0.1). Another novelty consists in that pyrolysis product, prior to be treated with lime milk, is unpulped in water at solids-to-liquid ratio 1:3 and stirred for 1.5-2.0 h at 40-50 C. EFFECT: enhanced pigment characteristics of titanium dioxide. 3 cl, 3 ex
