FIELD: polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: caprolactam is subjected to hydrolytic polymerization first at 210-225 C to form nearly equilibrium prepolymer, which is cooled to solid state and then heated to 170-190 C, and aged to complete polymerization. Polymer is dried while simultaneously removing low-molecular compounds. EFFECT: increased yield and improved quality of polycaproamide, simplified technology, and improved environmental condition. 1 tbl
