FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: process is developed to test technical condition of ionization chambers. Increased accuracy of diagnostics is achieved thanks to temporary placement of source of additional voltage pulses into circuit of ionization chamber to find section of volt-ampere characteristic within interval of permissible values of operational voltage. For the sake of computation chamber is presented in the form of non-linear two-terminal network in equivalent circuit of replacement of electric circuit. Salient feature of process is that whole section of volt-ampere characteristic is reconstructed with one switching-on of source of additional voltage pulses. With this in mind varying states used to find section of volt-ampere characteristic are registered in the course of transient processes in circuit of chamber with the aid of computation program. Technical condition of ionization chamber is diagnosed right in process of its operation without its disconnection from system controlling and protecting nuclear reactor on basis of statistical processing of information obtained with the use of computation program and data from technical documentation. As measurement time defined by time of switching-on of source of additional voltage pulses is chosen to be insufficient so there occurs no drift of power of reactor which rises accuracy of diagnostics of technical condition of ionization chamber. EFFECT: increased accuracy of diagnostics of technical condition of ionization chamber. 2 dwg
