FIELD: electrometallurgy. SUBSTANCE: electrode holder has current-carrying sleeve, as well as clamping mechanism for electrode and head with contact brushes. Current-carrying layer of sleeve is monolithic hollow Al-alloy blank reinforced by bundle of steel tubes of unequal sectional areas arranged along Al-blank axis. One of steel tubes having greatest sectional area is arranged along electric motor axis and accommodates electrode clamping mechanism Steel tubes of smaller sectional area in quantity multiple of two are embedded in wall of hollow Al-blank and connected to cooling system. Flanges provided on butt ends of steel tubes arranged along longitudinal axis of Al-blank have locks of which one carries electrode clamping mechanism and other lock mounts head with contact brushes. Reinforced bundle of hollow steel blanks is pre-stressed. Best ratio of sectional area of current-carrying layer to that of electrode holder is 0.3-0.6.
