FIELD: electrometallurgy, namely electric-arc melting furnaces and bucket furnaces for melting and heating metal.
SUBSTANCE: electrode holder includes head with contact plate, electrically conducting hose and spring-hydraulic mechanism for clamping-unclamping electrode provided with pickup for measuring clamping -unclamping effort of electrode. Cross section of electrically conducting hose is in the form of ellipse inscribed in rectangle. Wall thickness of elliptical and rectangular portions consists each 0.5 - 1.5 of depth of penetration of electric current with frequency 50 Hz into material of hose. Four peripheral cavities of hose are used for flowing of cooling water and it axial cavity is used placing mechanism for clamping-unclamping electrode.
EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability, increased useful life period of electrode holders due to increased rigidity of their design at reducing their size, improved efficiency of screening members of mechanism for clamping electrodes against outer electromagnetic field action, elimination of erosion caused by electric current passing.
