FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device output is connected through intermediate direct current circuit and pulse inverter to three-phase current electric drives. Device input is connected to alternating current mains, preferably through multiple-winding transformer with secondary windings for four- quadrant setting assembly and additional users, for example, converters of additional services, and set of surge filters, for example, such as three-phase electric locomotives supplied from contact system. In addition to regulation of active component of current method involves regulation of constant value of reactive component of current output by four-quadrant setting assembly into alternating current mains. In addition four-quadrant setting assembly assesses currents in surge filters set and, if necessary, in additional service converters. EFFECT: simplified design of facilitated compensation of significant values of reactive current caused by partial load of traction converters. 3 cl, 2 dwg
