FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method comprises dehydrochlorination of β,β′-dichlorodiethyl sulfoxide. Process is carried out in 40% aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide in the presence of interphase transfer catalyst, e. g. N,N,N-tributyl-N-benzyl ammonium at β,β′-dichloroethyl sulfoxide to alkali to catalyst molar ratio of 1:4:0.04 respectively and at temperature of 35-50 C.
