FIELD: lubricants. SUBSTANCE: objective is achieved by using material containing (i) 0.1 to 95.0% iodine-containing compound, basically NaI or NalO3 and/or l2 and 0.1 to 50% Na2SnO3; or (ii) 1 to 40% Na, 20-89% Sn, and additionally 10 to 60% Al. Composite material contains 90% Nal-NalO3-l2 and 10 to 90% Na-Sn-Al. Motor oil is passed through alkaline agent based on alkali metal, tin, and halogen-containing component, where, as alkaline reagent and/or halogen-containing component, above- indicated materials or their combinations are used by way of introducing them directly into engine case or placing them into engine oil system circuit. EFFECT: restored working characteristics of worn engine and reduced injurious emissions out of working engine. 17 cl, 5 tbl
