FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely, rolled stock production, possibly manufacture of rolling rolls of rolling stands of sheet rolling mills and preparing them to operation. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of fitting band on arbor, subsequent change of band according to its wear degree with simultaneous regrinding of carrying arbor. Number of bands made together with arbor is determined from expression: K=Nα, where K - number of bands, N - admissible endurance limit of carrying arbor; α- coefficient equal to 0.35-0.45 in dependance upon type of rolling mill. Profile of generatrix of inner surface of each next band is made according to expression fn(Db) = f1(Db)-Δ(n-1), where fn(Db)- function of profile of generatrix of n-band; f1(Db)- function of profile of generatrix of first band; Δ- value of hardened layer of barrel of arbor at operation, mm; n - number of band from 1 till K. Profile of barrel generatrix of arbor at regrinding it is normalized.
